Real Events: 50th Anniverary Gala (Part 1)

About 5 weeks ago, a long lost good friend from Highschool found me on facebook and called out for event planning help for her schools 50th Anniversary Gala. My friend Jo is a magnificent kinder teacher and while she can do many many things at once (like raising 2 wonderful boys AND write a book) she was drowning fast with not much time to pull it all together.  Enter me.  She needed everything…….starting with a tent.  I was so honored she thought of me and I had an absolute blast reconnecting with her and working on creating an event that her school could be proud of.  Eldorado Emerson Private School had it’s 50th Anniversary this year and they wanted to celebrate by inviting past and present alumni to a fun party!  I called on all my favorite vendors in the industry and with only 5 weeks to pull it all together they jumped in and impressed as usual.

As you know, my fabuluos assistant Brianna has a hidden talent for taking detail shots for me.  Go here & here to see more!  I couldn’t wait to post and I HAD to show a few teasers!  Thanks B! You get better and better my dear!

The fun centerpieces were created by Christine at The Spiraled Stem Floral Design. Christine was so wonderful working with me on what we called “the moving target”.  Because we only had 5 weeks, the guestlist changed drastically day to day which was to be expected.  Hitting that number was hard on rentals and tent size and 5 days before the big day, we didn’t know if we’d need 15 or 25 centerpieces.  We settled in at 18 and nailed the guest count right on the head. Intuition people!!

I brought in Diane from Signature Party Rentals to help us with the tent and rentals. She was marvelous as usual!   Lighting and Generator was provided by Joe Paxton of Atmosphere Entertainment. We turned the blank canvas of the white tent into a vibrant oasis of blue with projections of stars on the ceiling!  I love having creative freedom!  I went for gold and more gold, with accents of blue.

I don’t think the uplights on the sides of the tent were on yet when this picture was taken and there was so much more blue than shown below.

What would a Gala Reception be without yummy food?  This was the fun part! Jeremy Smith with  TGIS Catering  put together a delish menu for us…….and 2 days after he got married. That’s commitment to your craft!  We decided to do stations so guests could float around, chat, and reminisce with old classmates.  The cupcake display brought the kid out of everyone. From mint chip…….. to red velvet……….to peanut butter chocolate, it was a sugar shack of bliss.   Even though kids were not invited into the tent, they snuck through the back and nabbed these tasty treats.  My favorite moment by far was the stealth 8 year old who tip-toed in and out of the tent like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible. :) Too cute! There were plenty to go around and everyone was in heaven with these babies!

I truly couldn’t have done it without ALL these amazing vendors along with the trust and support of the school’s staff!  There are so many more pics to share and I will save that for Jim Kennedy Photographer’s images. :) We had a step and repeat photo wall, Projection Gobo, Conga line, and a silent auction that was anything but silent. Good times!

Orange County Goes Green!

I was overjoyed to be present at the Launch of The Green Event Studio presented by The Spiraled Stem Floral Design & Foscari Events & Catering. The event was to benefit Brides Against Breast Cancer, a charity that has deeply touched my heart! As I watch my friend Carol battle Breast Cancer every day, I am so touched to see all the ways women, young and old, are showing their support! Christine of Spiraled Stem and Foscari Catering teamed up to showcase their spectacular new GREEN space. The studio is a fabulous resource center to inspire GREEN weddings and events. Starting with eco-friendly flower design and catering, the studio will feature a full range of products and services by Summer of 08’. The studio is a place where event planners can come to learn more about how to create environmentally conscious weddings and events for their clients. Vendors who showed amazing support by offering their services were Wildfower Linens, Veriflora, D’lsh Design, Atmosphere Entertainment, and the COOLEST CAT, and one of my favorite photographers, Christine Farah! She was so sweet to let me use some of the event pics! Thanks Crissy!Overall….This is what inspiration looks like to me. Christine of Spiraled Stem started her business around the same time I started mine. I met her at a couple ABC functions and worked on several weddings with her and always noticed her DRIVE! She’s come a long way and worked her tail off and I was so excited for her when she shared her vision and opened this Studio! Inspiration comes in many forms…..Christine’s Aunt was an inspiration for her. She lost her battle to Breast Cancer before Christine’s wedding and she shared her heart and soul with us by telling her story. My inspiration is my husband who has endlessly supported me through the ups and downs of starting your own business and has sacrificed a lot these last few years by allowing me to go after my dream. I could not PUSH forward without him! (I love you Donny!)Here are a few AMAZING shots captured be the always amazing Crissy – Christine Farah Photography. I was thrilled to attend an event that brings GREEN to California!

Real Weddings: Adelaide & Ed in December

December was my last wedding of 07′ and I had the pleasure of coordinating a beautiful Wedding Celebration for Adelaide & Ed! It was an absolutely stunning event! Adelaide is from New York and travels quite frequently and her fiance resided in Houston so she really needed my help in keeping her organized and SANE! :) We had a great time pulling together the details and they were such a delightful couple to meet!

The Ceremony took place at the gorgeous Mission Inn of Riverside. I love their charming chapel and I even got chills when the boys choir sang as part of the processional…..all 40 of them! The Reception then followed at The Crestmore Manor in Riverside…..a hidden gem with a BLANK canvas of NEW space! It was a beautiful yet crisp day. Renee Broughton shared some pro photos of the fab details and I have a few that one of my assistant’s Kelli took and sproused up. :) There was a great team behind this big day and I want to thank ALL the fabulous wedding pro that were part of this amazing celebration! Credits at bottom!

The ever-popular shoe picture! I think this may be one of my favs!

There was this amazingly TALL and gorgeous tree at the Crestmore Manor.

Renee captured a beauty of an angle here!

Trying to pronounce this devine “Sweet Art” was an accomplishment. Say it with me “Croquembouche” - Pronounced “Crock-OM-Booosh” Yay!!

The linens were made by the brides mom and were a dramatic backdrop for these vibrant centerpieces.

The gorgeous Manzanita Branch Centerpieces were designed by Christine from Spiraled Stem.

Below are some non-pro pics that my assistant Kelli (aka Linen Guru) took.
